ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
Sir, —Your correspondent “Wire Buster” entirely fails to understand the main point in my letter, which is that the generators are only capable ol supplying a certain amount of power; and the more houses that are connected the less must be the power supplied for each house until a point is reached when the power delivered is too small .to be of service. For example, suppose that 10.000 kilowatts are available, then if 1000 houses are connected each can secure 10 k.w. If, however. 5000 houses are supplied, only 5 k.w. a house are available, and so on until there is insufficient power to operate the household appliances. The claims of industry to power must not be forgotten. Regarding 24-hour water heaters, it is news to know that they sre in action, as they are expressly forbidden by regulation.—Yours, etc., ENGINEER. July 19, 1948.
