FOOD FOR BRITAIN
Sir, —In Australia they have an “express gift parcel” scheme which is nonprofit and endorsed by the Government. Anyone making a donation of 10s can nominate a recipient for an “express gift parcel.” The parcels are packed from supplies at a bulk store in England. Delivery of each parcel, with full contents, is guaranteed, within approximately three weeks. A scheme such as the above would save postage (£lOO,OOO per annum, according to a statement by Mr M. H. Oram, M.P.), besides a vast amount df work in packins, carrying, etc. I commend the idea to the Aid for Britain Committee.—Yours, etc., F. J. MARFELL. July 18, 1948.
