NELSON GROWERS’ DECISION (P.A.) NELSON. July 16. The Government’s proposal to set up an apple and pear marketing board was approved by the Nelson provincial conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, ’Hie financial proposals were not considered acceptable, and the conference resolved to accept a minimum guarantee of 5 per cent, below the cost of production, with the right to receive up to 10 per cent, of market returns above the cost of production, the balance to be paid into a reserve account. Mr T. F. A. Archer was elected Nelson director of the federation. The advisory committee’s report showed that the Nelson district’s apple and pear production this year was 1.431.000 cases; apples packed for export to Britain, 549,000 cases.
