RUSSIAN SHIP IN DISTRESS
PASSENGERS GO ABOARD OTHER VESSELS (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) TOKYO, January 11. All the 800 passengers from the Russian motor-vessel Dvina, which was earlier reported in distress 180 miles east of Hokkaido, were transferred to-day to a number of Russian vessels. The Dvina herself was taken under tow to an undisclosed destination. A Russian destroyer escort yesterday succeeded in getting a line aboard the Dvina and quickly installed pumps. The Dvina is now in calm seas and her position is described as completely satisfactory. • United States and Japanese vessels which also stood by her have been withdrawn.
