COMPLAINT AGAINST MAIL CONTRACTOR
Sir, —In defence of the rural mail contractors, I should like to point out that if “Mail-box No. I’s” farmers were working so busily they would not have had time to read their papers if they had been delivered. Also, there are many days of the year when the farmers are unable to work, but the mail comes, just the same. I know, we were glad our contractor had a holiday. He certainly deserves it, after his extremely hard and-trying work delivering the Christmas mail.—Yours, etc., SPRINGSTON RURAL. January 8, 1948. Sir, —I would like to thank the contractor on the Christchurch-Greendale R.M.D. run for the courteous service he has given us during the last year. “Box Holder No. I’’ should be thankful for our Saturday delivery, as I understand some districts do not receive mail on Saturdays whether it is a holiday or an ordinary week-end. — Yours, etc., ONE WHO ALSO WORKED.
