RUMOUR UNFOUNDED
NOBODY IN LIFTS A rumour was circulated in Wellington that people were caught in the lifts during the fire, said Mr R. H. Ballantyne yesterday. It had been said that the Minister of Labour (Mr A. McLagan) and the Leader of the Opposition (Mr S. G. Holland) heard the rumour in Wellington, but Mr Ballantyne emphasised that there was no foundation for the story.
