TEMPORARY TRAM SERVICES

DISRUPTION AFTER FIRE Temporary arrangements for the tram service along Colombo street, which was disrupted immediately after the fire broke out. were made yesterday by the Christchurch Tramway Board. Trams from Fendalton. Papanui, St. Albans and Cranfora street, which usually continue south along Colombo street, turned in Cathedral square, and those from Opawa, Cashmere, Spreydon and Addington used a 'terminus at the intersection of Moorhouse avenue and Colombo street. Passengers were taken in buses up Manchester and High streets to the Square. Trams for Riccarton used Worcester street for both entering and leaving the Souare. Much of the overhead tramway gear in Colombo street was damaged by the fire. Other lines were removed by Tramway Board workmen, but s°me were brought down when the building was demolished yesterday morning. The tracks have not been badly damaged.
