PATHOLOGISTS AT HOSPITAL

DOCTORS RETURNING FROM BRITAIN

Staffing of the pathological department of the Christchurch Hospital has caused some concern to the North Canterbury Hospital Board, and the board is now advertising for a junior assistant pathologist at a salary of £6OO a year, rising to £750. Two doctors in the department. Drs. C. Pearson and M. G. Somerville, will be leaving the hospital shortly. Dr. Somerville has been appointed pathologist to the Napier Hospital, and Dr. Pearson is going to a position in the North Island.

Dr. D. T. Stewart, who was first assistant to the pathologist (Dr. A. B. Pearson), and who has been on leave for post-graduate study in Britain, is returning by air in December, and will resume work at the department shortly after his arrival. Another assistant pathologist. Dr. G. C. T. Burns, who was appointed some time ago, is still in Britain, where he has been doing post-graduate work, but he is expected to arrive early next year.
