AMERICAN CITIZEN ARRESTED
ACTION BY HUNGARIAN POLICE (Rec. 7 p.m.) BUDAPEST. Oct. 28. The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed the American Legation that the Hungarian police have arrested an American citizen, Miss Elizabeth Pallos, who is secretary to the Associated Press, on an unspecified charge. The Note said that the American Legation would be kept informed of the investigation which was being held. Piper Cubs Make Longest Hop.— The two Piper Cub pilots, Clifford Evans and George Truman, landed at Shemya, at the western end of the Aleutian island chain to-day. completing the longest and most dangerous stage of their leisurely round-the-world flight in the tiny aeroplanes. They were escorted on the 1500-mile hop from Japan to the Aleutians by two Flying Fortresses of the Far Eastern Air Force. Evans and Truman hopped off from the ~Tst coast of the United States three months ago.—New York. October 28.
