MISS NEW ZEALAND QUEST
SOME CANDIDATES DOUBLE ENTRY FEE The closing date for entries in the Mis® New Zealand quest is October 11, and most candidates have already collected their minimum entry fee lof £250, and are on the way, in some cases, towards doubling it. “With the exception of three or four towns and districts,” said Mr K. W. Kilpatrick, executive director of the quest, “every part of New Zealand has given most generous support to the candidates.”
Mr Kilpatrick said that as the quest neared its closing date money from candidates was flowing into the St. George Food for Britain fund at an ever-increasing rate. It was quickly used to send individual food parcels to the many thousands of British people on the society’s lists. The four judges, Miss H. Iris Crooke, M.8.E., Miss Helen Gard’ner/-Mr Rob-? ert Steele, and Mr Philip A. Smithells, will announce their, choice of South Island district winners after the judging in Christchurch, which will take pla.ee from October- 15 to 18. The North Island candidates will be judged in Wanganui on . October 20 and* 22.
