GROUP CAPTAIN HELY IN NEW ZEALAND

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 3. A member of the R.A.F. mission to Australia and New Zealand, Group Captain A. H. McM. Hely, of Melbourne, arrived from Sydney by Tasman Empire Airways flying-boat. He is in New Zealand to consult the Air' Department on matters concerning the mission in New. Zealand. Before going to Wellington in about 10 days’ time, Group Captain. Hely will visit his parents. Commander and Mrs Hely, of Takapuna. Group Captain Hely was educated at Mount Albert Grammar School, having come to New Zealand from England with his parents when a child. In 1933 he worked his passage to England as a deck hand on board the City of Lincoln, and in the following year he joined the R.A.F., in which he obtained a permanent commission. During the war he served on Earl Mountbatten’s staff in Ipdia, Burma, and Ceylon, where he was engaged in administrative planning for two years. After the war he came to Australia with the mission.
