NIGHT TROTTING

INTRODUCTION OPPOSED (Keo. 5.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 2S. Executive members of the Australian Labour Party will challenge the state caucus decision to reintroduce night trotting. At the executive meeting on Wednesday a powerful group is expected, to move that the whole question of night trotting be referred to the State Labour Conference next June.

In spite of opposition from the Premier, Mr J. McGirr, the caucus decided last week that the State Government should prepare legislation to reintroduce night trotting at the earliest possible moment. Some executive members consider that the decision amounted to open defiance of the executive, which at its last meeting congratulated State Cabinet on. its decision not to reintroduce midweek racing for another year.
