WOMAN CONVICTED OF HOUSE-BREAKING
REFORMATIVE DETENTION FOR TWO YEARS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 29. Informed by the Court last week that she would be allowed probation for two years if inquiries showed that it would be beneficial for her to spend some time in a special home, Eva Florence Fletcher, aged 28, again appeared before Mr Justice Callan for sentence on a charge of housebreaking at Hamilton. His Honour said the report showed that the home would nut be suitable for her. and she was apparently in need of treatment. He would have to do what he had hoped to avoid doing, and order her. to be detained for reformative purposes for 12 months. It might be that the authorities might see their way to let her out on some form of licence, which would be very fortunate for her, he added.
