(Before Mr F S.M.) DRUNKENNESS For drunkenness, having been previously convicted within the last six months, Richard Coughlan, a labourer, aged 57, was convicted and discharged. NAME SUPPRESSED Appearing for sentence on a charge of theft, a young man whose name was suppressed was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within 12 months if called up, conditionally upon his making restitution of the sum of 30s within three months. ADMITTED TO PROBATION ‘ A domestic, aged 18, was placed on probation for 12 months when charged with the theft of the sum of £2 12s, a condition being that she remain for that period in an institution. Her name was suppressed. ON ENCLOSED PREMISES Allan Percival Norwood, an engineer, aged 28, pleaded not guilty to a charge of being found without lawful excuse on August 28 on enclosed premises at Warner’s Hotel. Witnesses described entering a room which they were occupying at the hotel at 7.30 p.m. They found the accused behind the door with his back against the wall. In a statement, Norwood said he had been looking for a man he had been drinking with during the afternoon. Norwood was convicted and fined £3. CIVIL CASE THURSDAY (Before Mr Raymond, Ferner, S.M.) CLAIM FOR £l5 Judgment for £lO was given for the plaintiffs, William John McFftrlane arjd Ross McFarlane, trading as McFarlane Bros., painting specialists (Mr H. O. Jacobsen), who claimed £l5 for work done and materials used in painting a motor-car. Mrs L. B. Higgins (Dr. A. L. Haslam) was the defendant.
