POLITICS

' Sir, —We listened last night to a speech by the Rev. Clyde Carr during a debate in the House of Representatives. It was just the usual speech we are accustomed to, arranged to draw away from the point of discussion something to keep class warfare alive. The attacks levelled at former governments and the employer class generally are always completely unfounded. The members of the Opposition, whom they brand as Tories, and employers generally all over New Zealand, are workers one and all. They set a wonderful standard and made New Zealand what ft is or was before Labour took a hand in trying to remodel it We owe everything to the pioneers, who braved the weather and conditions of the early days and to their families who carried on the example set them—employers in whatever state of life and employees.—Yours, etc., A NEW ZEALANDER. August 1947.
