GUN DOG TRIALS
SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS The South Island gun dog championships were held under the auspices of the Canterbury Gun Dog Club on Mr Shipley’s property, Waimakariri road, on Saturday.
Results:— South Island All Breed Championship. —H. Cox’s Labrador, Bruce Juunior (field trial champion), 170 points, 1; L. Gates’s yellow Labrador, Cashmere Roy, 167, 2; A. E. Meyer’s English Springer Spaniel, Trixie’s Pride, 163, 3.
South Island Spaniel Championship.— M. Leathern’s English Springer Spaniel, Freckles Pridevilla, and O. Hartley Smith’s English Springer Spaniel, Crucfifield Copper Coin, 178 points (equal), 1; A. E. Meyer’s English Springer Spaniel, Trixie’s Pride, 175, 3.
South Island Retriever Championship. —D. A. McLeod's Labrador, Sandy Powell (field trial champion), 192 points, 1; L. Gates’s yellow Labrador, Cashmere Roy, 184 points, 2; G. L. Harris’s Labrador, Sally of Hawea, 183 points, 3.
