"MISS NEW ZEALAND”
CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES EXTENDED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 22. To meet many requests the closing date of entries for the “Miss New Zealand” contest has been extended from September 2 to October 11. This was announced by Mr G. C. Sherwood, chairman of the board of directors which is conducting the' contest for the “Food for Britain” fund of the Royal Society of St. George. “The board was reluctant to extend the closing date,” said Mr Sherwood, “but it felt that it had to do so in fairness to the many people who are giving it support, and who. because of many other calls on their energies, need more time in which to organise entries.”
Mr Sherwood added that the postponement of the closing date would not hold up the selection of “Miss New Zealand.” It had not been intended to begin judging before October 11.
