Y.W.C.A. CONFERENCE IN CHINA
MISS JEAN BEGG TO REPRESENT N.Z.
(PA) WELLINGTON, August 22. Because of the difficulties of transport and inflation it has been found impossible to send anyone especially from New Zealand to China for the world’s Young Women’s Christian Association council meeting in Hangchow from October 15 to 27. However, Miss Jean Begg will fly from Japan to Hangchow for the meeting, attending as New Zealand Y.W.C.A. representative, being a proxy for Mrs Mackie-Begg, Dominion president and world council member.
Another New Zealander to be present at the conference will be Miss Leila Bridgman, now national secretary of the Y.W.C.A. of Australia.
