COMMENT BY DR. VAN MOOK
(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) BATAVIA, August 22. The Lieutenant-Governor of the Netherlands East Indies (Dr. H. J. Van Mook) said he was not astonished to learn of Dr. Sjarifuddin'* speech urging Indonesians in the occupied areas to continue their fight against the Dutch. He declined to comment on report* from The Hague that a resumption of Dutch police action, including the capture of the Republican capital. Jogjakarta, was likely to be ordered soon. Dr. Van Mook said the Republicans had neither stopped their hostile propaganda nor their hostilities since his radio address, in which he said there was still time for Jogjakarta to change its attitude.
