GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY REQUESTED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 29. Government assistance in the pro; jected expansion of Te Ante Maori Boys’ College, and Hukarere Maori Girls’ College, Napier, was sought by a deputation, including the Bishop of Aotearoa (the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett), Sir Apirana Ngata, and members of the Te Aute Trust Board, which waited on the Minister of Education <Mr H. G. R. Mason) this morning. The deputation estimated that just less than £20.000 would be required for improvements, and asked for a 50-50 contribution from the Education Department. The Minister said he would visit Hawke’s Bay, probably at the end of next week, to investigate the proposals.
