TEAMS TO PLAY AGAINST AUSTRALIANS METHOD OF SELECTION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 29. The New Zealand Golf Council, in a letter to the Wellington Metropolitan Golf Association, said the council would select New Zealand, North Island, and South Island teams to meet the Australian team. Teams would be announced not later than October 8. Selections of the Auckland and Otago-Southland provincial teams would be left in the hands of provincial associations in those centres. “With a view to giving as many golfers as possible the opportunity to play against the Australians,” the letter continued, it has been decided that those selected for the New Zealand team will not be eligible for the North or South Island teams, and again members of those teams will not be eligible for the Auckland or Otago-South-land provincial teams. To assist the council in selecting the New Zealand and Island teams, will you forward the names of players of various clubs affiliated whom you deem worthy of consideration for selection. It is recommended that in view of the limited number of players in each team—four—that consideration can only be given to players whose handicaps do hot exceed scratch.” - *■ ■
