OVERSEAS COACH SUGGESTED

A suggestion that an overseas coach be hired by the Association was made by the University Club in a letter to tne management committee of the Canterbury Football Association last evening. The secretary, Mr C. Sanderson, said that all clubs had been circularised for ideas regarding the employment of an overseas coach, and this was the first reply reCe The University Club said that the work of the coach would be similar to that ot the English professional cricket coach, J. H. Perks. It was suggested that the best man possible be secured for the position, preferably a player from one of the big clubs in Great Britain. It was decided to wait until replies from other clubs were received before doing anything in the matter. The Nomads Club wrote saying it supported the Referees’ Association in its request that sterner measures be adopted by the judicial committee in dealing with players ordered off the field: A letter from the Canterbury Boxing Association said that the New Zealand amateur boxing tournament was to be held in Christchurch in September and a request was made that those of the 300 visitors to Christchurch for this tournament who desired to visit the Association football games on the Saturday, September 20, be guests of the Association. It was decided to agree to the Boxing Association’s request.
