FOOTBALL COMPETITION PROSECUTION
(P.A.) ' WELLINGTON, July 29. Brian Hazleton Sullivan was fined £5 on one charge and on another was convicted and discharged by Mr H. J. Thompson, S.M., for distributing circulars inviting persons to make bets on *the results of football competitions. The Magistrate said a heavy penalty was unnecessary, because the defendant promptly stopped when the matter was raised by the police, pending a decision by the Court.
