HOWE TO RUN IN WINTER CUP
“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, July 28. The Trentham trainer W. J. Bromby will leave for Riccarton to-night. The Monarch met with a slight injury while training last week, and will not make the trip. He is likely to be turned out to spell, Howe’s mission will be the Winter Cup; After his fall in the Whyte Handicap on the first day at Trentham, Howe was given a short let-up, but he returned to the tracks recently looking none the worse for his accident. He requires little fast work to bring him to concert pitch, and a reproduction of his best would give him prospects at Riccarton. It remains to be seen whether his confidence has been shaken by his fall. No rider has yet been engaged for Howe in the Winter Cup. ’
