LEVEL OF GERMAN INDUSTRY
FRANCE TO BE CONSULTED
STATEMENT BY GENERAL MARSHALL (Rec. 9.15 p.m.) PARIS, July 24. The United States Secretary of State (General G. C. Marshall) has informed the French Foreign Minister (Mr Bidault) that the United States will suspend any decision on the new level of industry for the British and American zones in Germany until the French Government has discussed, the matter with the British and American Governments. General Marshall added tiiat he hoped soon to be in a position to suggest a tripartite examination of the problem, including the administration and control of the Ruhr.
