MEDICAL SERVICE AT CHATHAMS

DOCTORS TO STAY FOR 87 DAYS The two doctors who had jointly accepted the position of medical officer at the Chatham Islands had agreed to stay at the islands for 87 days. This was reported to the North Canterbury Hospital Board yesterday. The doctors. Dr. J R. Wells and Dr. R. AFerguson, were members of the Christchurch Hospital junior house surgeons’ staff, and accepted the position after the board had unsuccessfully advertised the position throughout New Zealand. Consideration of the future policy pf medical service at the islands had peen given by the hospital committee of the board, it was reported, and the committee proposed to inquire from the Department of Health whether medical bursars should be allocated for service at the islands.
