Sir, —The notables that have visited ' New Zealand during the last few years have all stressed the value of home life and the uplifting of the character of youth. Theoretically, this is quite obvious and correct. Practically, it is almost impossible because some 50 per cent, are quite incapable of bringing I up children in the right way. All the i mayors of the large cities agree with | this statement. We have to go back ■ to attain tangible results. Psychiatrists • affirm the necessity for intensive at { tention with a dash of genetics thrown i in. . The years from the first to the fifth are the most important in developing character.
