«MADE IN BRITAIN ” FIELD DAY BRISTOL FREIGHTER’S VISIT TO HAREWOOD The opportunity of inspecting the Bristol freight-carrier. Merchant Venturer. which arrived at Whenuapai yesterday afternoon during a world tour, will be given to the public of Christchurch on August 3. A "Made in Britain” field day has been arranged by the Canterburv Aero Club, and the freighter will be one of the main attractions. The R.N.Z.A.F. will co-operate in the display. It is understood that a Mosquito aircraft will be among the exhibits, and will give a demonstration of aerobatics. This will be the first time that this famous type has been on view at close quarters in Christchurch. Group Captain W. C. Sheen, DeputyChief of Air Staff, has undertaken to give a description by loud-speaker system of the Mosquito's display. Formation flying by pilots of the R.N.Z.A.F will be carried out in three Oxford aircraft from Wigram aerodrome. Aircraft old and new. service and civilian, will take part in the fly-past. Also on view for the first time in the South Island will be the Miles Gemini, a new light twin-engined machine, several of which have been ordered for various purposes in New Zealand. The Auster Autocrat, another modern light type, and a Percival Proctor will also be seen. The versatility of the Bristol product will be shown by the loading of a car into the Merchant Venturer's cargo compartment, and flights with 10 pasaengert. Aerobatics will be performed by the club instructors (Messrs L. F. Poore and C. Fantham). and the club captain (Mr A. M. Harvie), who will fly three Tiger Moths.
