ISMAY’S VISIT TO LONDON JINNAH EXPECTS EARLY DECISION NEW DELHI, May 7. Referring to Lord Ismay’s visit to London to report on the situation in India, Mr Jinnah said he thought it would be only a few weeks before a decision concerning India would be announced. •T pray God that during the few weeks pending the final announcement ail will do their best to save the people from the destruction of life and property,” he said. “When the final announcement is made we shall be free to decide what course, of action we should adopt. Our fight is not against the Hindus or Sikhs. We are fighting so that a true verdict of the people can be obtained by fair, free methods.” Mr Gandhi told his prayer meeting to-day that he could not put his signature to any Scheme for the division of India. He added that his conversations with Mr Jinnah yesterday had been friendly! although there could never be agreement between them on the question of dividing India. The Governor* of the Buniab (Sir Evan Jenkins) to-day fined collectively the Moslems of the riotous Rawalpindi district £225,000.
