STATE SENATOR SHOT

FELLOW LEGISLATOR ARRESTED AFFAIR IN OKLAHOMA CITY (NX Pre** Assodetlon—Copyright) that State Senator Tom Anglin, seed O. was shot in the back While on the Soar ot the Senate this afternoon. It add* that ■ member of the House of Representative* fired the shot Senator* took a- member of the Stouae, Mr Jimmie Scott, to the Senate President’s office, but he declined to make a statement •Re gold: “I don’t want to talk until I have seen a lawyer. I want to be arrested and see a lawyer.” „Wie Senate Secretary (Mr William Cordell) said that Senator Anglin's ***ail*nt walked into the Senate and Senator Anglin cried out: “Don't Shoot.*'. Mr Cordell sold that the man fired twice, although only one wound WS* found In Senator Anglin'* body. . Another eye-witness said that the Senate wu not in session at the time, but many people were on the floor. Senator Anglin remained on hl* feet after the shooting and said: “Fm shot ft) the beck.” A Senator who is a doctor gave him first aid. Mr Scott told reporters: ”1 can't pin it down. Ido not'know what wa* between u*. He was a powerful man, and hl* strong arm always placed pressure on me. He told me that If I did not stay out of his way he would kill me. W* both started drawing. I. do not see how I wa* in hi* way. He drew a gun—at least I thought he did. < did everything I knew to please him.” Mr Scott was taken to the city gaol and the Senate resumed work shortly after the shooting. Eye-witnesses differed on whether Mr Scott fired twice or whether Senator Anglin and he each fired once. All agree that two shots ware fired. One man said that when he ran towards Senator Anglin he.found that Senator Anglin had a gun, which was taken from him In spite ot his strong protest*.'
