NORTH CANTERBURY GUN CLUB
OPENING SHOOT Conditions were good for the opening shoot of the North Canterbury Gun Club this season. Nineteen competitors took part in the five matches. The main match was one with 10 targets. C. H. Rowsell and E. N. Mathewson each registered possibles, and six competitors with nine breaks each divided third money. A. N. Turner. D. W. Davison, E. Henderson, J. H. Hayes, and C. H. Rowsell each broke the possible in the first five-target match, and in a 10-target "gymcrack” sweep I; G. Watkins, A. N. Turner, and C. H. Rowsell divided the prize money with 9 on. The fourth match, a 10-tar-get sweep, drew 16 entries L. Kerr, R. Whitham, J. H. Hayes, and B. H. Sluis, with one down, divided the prize. The concluding event was a “first miss out.” C. H. Rowsell, who was shooting well, won on the fifth round, E. Henderson being the runner-up. Henderson also won a special prize for the best unplaced performance inside the 13-yard mark.
