OBITUARY

DR. G. J. BLACKMORE News has been received in Christchurch ot the death of Dr. G. J. Blackmore. who was in charge of the Cashmere Sanatorium from 1910 till his retirement at the end of 1928. He went to England soon after, and has lived at Thame, near Oxford, for many years. Until recently he has been in comparatively good health. News of his death will be received in Christchurch with great regret. When Dr. Blackmore came to New Zealand, the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis was in a very primitive stage. Because of an excellent knowledge of his subject, and good organising ability combined with a fine character, he built up an institution whose fame has gone far beyond the realms of North Canterbury. Hundreds of former patients throughout New Zealand will remember with gratitude his crusade against tuberculosis and the present position is due in no small measure to his efforts in the early days. Miss M. A. Blackmore, Cashmere, is a sister. MR HENRY HAMER From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, April 15.
