WESTERN AUSTRALIAN ELECTION

(Rec. 7 p.m.) PERTH, March 20. The Lieutenant-Governor of Western Australia (Sir James Mitchell) will ask the leader of the Parliamentary Liberal Party (Mr D. R. McLarty) to form a new Government. Last Saturday’s election has given the Liberal Party and the Country Democratic League 25 of the 50 septs in the Legislative Assembly and the Labour Party 23. To preserve a safe majority the composite Government will probably invite one of the two Independents to accept the speakership. The State Labour Government is the first war-time regime in Australia to lose office. Service votes are still outstanding. and the final result may pot be known for 10 days.
