POLAND’S DESTRUCTION
Sir, —I think “D.H.C.” cannot have read Mr Jas. Hill’s letter. I suppose that no one, except the Communists, would object to the Polish people choosing any system of Government they wish, old or new. The complaint is that they have not been allowed to choose. The present Government was imposed upon them without their being consulted; and now it appears from many reliable reports, including that of Christopher Buckley, published in “The Press’* of Saturday, that yesterday’s elections were a farce, and in no sense free. “D.H.C.” has tried to refute an objection which no one has made.—Yours, etc.. G. F. SEWARD. January 20, 1947.
