Mar- ! iad a clear-cut victory over E. Griffiths (Westport), of 29-11, while W. G. Ives (Cashmere) beat E. R Moss (Greymouth) narrowly, 17-16. Martyn looked an odds-on winner of the final when his four led 15-0 after the completion of five ends, but thereaiter they suffered a total collapse, and Ives won the next 12 in a row, to take win S §l r i e g l ° 27-19 at the twentletb and Because of a sudden illness after the completion of the morning semi-final, Len Smith, who plays second for Ives four, was removed to hospital, and J. Following are the results:— Sixth Round.—Two-lifers: Giddens 19 McDonald 18: McLean a bye. One-lifers-Cooper 21, Hulston 16: McNish 18, Gibbons 11; Haworth 18. Shaw 17; Hollander 21, Ashford 16. Seventh Round.—Cooper 25, M. Lean 12: McNish 18, Haworth 15; McDonald 19, Hollander 12; Giddens (two-lifer) a bye Eighth Round.—McNish 23, Giddens 8; McLean 19, McDonald 14; Cooper a bye Semi-finals.—McNish 24, McLean 11: Cooper 22. Giddens 11. Final.—R E. McNish (Canterbury) 21, J. E. Cooper (Barrington) 6. McNish played very steadily in all his games and he gave an impressive exhibition of accurate drawing to score an easv win in the final. Mr A. Clark, the president of the centre, presented the prizes, after thanking all who had assisted to make the tournament a success. ELriERLY BOWLERS’ ASSOCIATION Inter-club competitions for the Carmine Shield will be held this year by the Christchurch Elderly Bowlers’ Association, it was announced annual

meeting of the association recently. The winning club will hold the shield for a year, and each member of the winning team wiH be presented with a framed certificate. Copies of these certificates will be given to their club. Messrs A. C. Truman and J. H. Hankins were elected chairman and honorary secretary-treasurer respectively. MATCH FOR ROBINSON SHIELD A match for the Robinson Shield between the Shirley and Riccarton Racecourse Bowling Clubs took place yesterday and was won by Shirley, 21-15. Teams were:—Shirley: J. Thompson. A. Thompson, E. C. Hyde, C. Freeman (skip), Riccarton Racecourse: G. W. Ash B Crowhurst, F. Williams, G. Smith (skip).
