ELECTIONS IN POLAND
Government Bloc Wins 383 Seats 82 PER CENT. OF TOTAL (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) WARSAW, January 21. Candidates of the parties in the Government bloc won nearly 82 per cent, of the 444 seats in the Polish Parliament. The final list of seats is:— Government bloc .. .. 383 Peasant Party .. 27 Work Party 17 Others 17 It is officially announced that at least 23 persons, including seven soldiers. were killed during the elections on Sunday. Most of the deaths occurred in the unsettled areas of southeast Poland. Polish military tribunals have sentenced to death 18 persons stated to be members of the Polish Peasant Party, who were accused, of underground terrorist activities, says the Warsaw correspondent of the Associated Press. Some of the accused were charged with murdering members of the Government bloc parties and attacking election commissions.
