LARGE SCALE PLAN NOT ABANDONED
DENIAL OF ENGLISH REPORT (Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 2k The Minister of Immigration (Mr A. A. Calwell) denied a report current in England that the recent immigration conference in Canberra-had agreed to the abandonment of the plan for largescale immigration. He said that all the conference did was to allocate 6000 berths which would be available in 1947. Alternative means of transport by sea and air were considered to bring to Australia 46,000 persons whose services were needed.
