NEWS

Sir, —The letters on civilised news were cheering. I hoped more of your readers would have responded with constructive ideas as to balanced news in our newspapers, for I know manv are thinking about it. It is worth dozens of letters, hundreds, thousands, to emphasise that humanity is crying out for construction, not revelling in news of destruction. Granted, our local news occupies many columns of construction, heartening to read. There must be a preponderance of well-doing and goodwill in the world, else we should have perished long ago. Reuters need not set the tune for all time. If enough of us wanted balanced news we. could have it.—Yours, etc., CIVILISED NEWS. January 20, 1947.
