FOOD RELIEF IN 1947
NEEDS REPORTED TO UNO (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 14. Countries whose economies were shattered by the' war will need 1.000.000,000 dollars worth of food relief in 1947. Twelve countries have filed with the United Nations reports detailing their probable shortages, and although the total has not been divulged, five of them are known to stand in need of aid amounting to 500,000,0000 dollars.
