WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS

Papanui-Waimairi.—The monthly meeting of the Papanui-Waimairi branch of the division took the form of a Christmas party. A demonstration of picture making from pressed flowers was given by Mrs Rennie. Tins of biscuits were packed for servicemen in the Christchurch Public Hospital and at Burwood Hospital, and cakes for inmates of Rannerdale Home. Competition results were as follows:—tumbler of flowers, Mrs Ellman 1, Mrs M. Marshall 2; bowl of roses, Mrs Campbell 1, Mrs Reynolds 2; single bloom, Mrs Ellman 1, Mrs O. Rourke 2; cluster bloom, Mrs S. F. Marshall 1, Mrs Nicholls 2; six pods of peas, Mrs Ellman 1, Mrs Campbell 2.

Tai Tapu.—An afternoon social was held recently by members of the Tai Tapj branch of the division. Among the guests of honour were two of the foundation members of the branch, Mrs M. B. Gilmour, founder, and Mrs E. McLachlan, a past president. Presentations were made to the guests of honour and to the president (Mrs Dulieu) and to the secretary (Mrs S. Tobeck). An account of the division’s new headquarters in Wellington was given by Mrs I. L. M. Coop. Musical items were presented by pupils of the Tai Tapu Consolidated School, conducted by the headmaster (Mr C. L. Martin). A sketch was given by Mrs D. Hamilton.
