A PRESENTATION
The staff and pupils pf the Shirley Intermediate School take a keen and practical interest in the children’s health camp, “’Glenelg,” and in the annual health camp campaign, and they are greatly encouraged in these activities by Mr M. D. Wells, postmaster at the North Avon Post Office. Mr Wells, who is an enthusiast on stamp collecting, decided to have a volume compiled in which he arranged a series of first-day covers and stamps of various kinds, beautifully mounted. Explanatory notes were added in some cases and helpful hints on the right way to mount stamps were supplied. The volume was prepared by Mr L. Wootton, and at a small ceremony held yesterday, Mr J. Wyn Irwin, a member of the Health Camp Committee, on behalf of Mr Wells, presented the book to Mr S. C. Gibb, headmaster of the school, to be kept-at the school for reference. Mr Wyn Irwin thanked Mr Wells for his continued interest in the health stamp campaigns, and expressed appreciation of the fine work done by the pupils of the Shirley Intermediate School in the sale of stamps.
Before the presentation, the choir of the school, conducted by Mr H. W. Findlay, with an 11-year-old boy pupil as accompanist, sang several choruses and part songs. The visitors, including four members of the Health Camp Committee, were entertained at afternoon tea by Mr Gibb and his staff.
