KING’S COUNSEL
MR JOHN O’SHEA TO TAKE SILK
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Nov. 11. Mr John O’Shea, formerly Wellington city solicitor and counsel for the Municipal Association of New Zealand, is to be appointed a King’s Counsel. He will take silk on Friday. Mr O’Shea was born in Dunedin in 1877. He was educated at the NorthEast Valley and George street schools, and the Otago Boys’ High School, of which he was dux in 1893. Scholarships took him to Otago University where, in 1899, he took his M.A. degree with first-class honours. He graduated LL.B, in 1900. He played senior cricket in Otago and was a representative Rugby player for that province in 1898-1899. Mr O’Shea became a barrister in 1900. He was city solicitor in Wellington from 1899 until two years ago, when he retired on superannuation.
