ROOM RENTS
Sir, —May I beg space to air one of the chief grievances of the ordinary working people, who have not been fortunate enough to own a house of their own. Why fair rents for houses and not for rooms? Advertisements still appear in the papers about rooms to let at exorbitant prices, with all sorts of conditions tacked on. If the Government would look into the miserable condition of roomers, it would be time well spent and earn it many votes at the coming election. How can we expect to be healthy, or bring much desired babies into these wretched conditions?—Yours, etc., ONE ROOM. September 19, 1946.
