COURTENAY STREET, ST. ALBANS

Sir, —Your correspondent “John Citizen” is right in calling attention to Courtenay street, St. Albans, but he would be on surer ground if he advocated the retention of Courtenay street for the northern part, which is parallel to Cranford street, and renaming the smaller part under that name. It is a separate street, and I would suggest calling it Seymour street, as I think there is a family connexion between these West of England names. Even if not, they are equally known ‘historically; and I forward the suggestion for what it is worth. —Yours, etc., HISTORICUS. September 19, 1946.
