FORCE LUGGAGE
Sir, —The boys from Egypt, Italy, and Japan arrived in Christchurch nine days ago. Their luggage arrived on the Chitral and was to follow them. I have not heard of any soldier, my own son included, who has received his bag yet. _ls it any wonder that soldiers and tneir parents are disgusted with the offhand methods meted out to them? Who is responsible for this? —Yours, etc.. A SOLDIER’S FATHER. September 17, 1946. [lt was stated at Southern Military District Headquarters yesterday that all the Christchurch baggage from the Chitral had now been delivered, except that which still required checking. Through a shipping delay* the luggage had come down in two trips by the steamer express, reaching Addington on Saturday and on Monday The whole of the luggage for south of Christchurch was also included, and it all had to be sorted in order of destination before delivery.]
