BIBLE STILL MOST READ BOOK
UNITED STATES SURVEY . NEW YORK, May 5. The Bible is still the most read book in the United States, but an exhaustive nation-wide survey of the tastes of the American reading public during the first six months of 1945 revealed that the Bible is hard pressed in popularity by The historical novel. Forever Amber.”
The survey disclosed that 95 per cent, of the people read the Bible, and 84 per cent, have read “Forever Amber.”
A large percentage of Bible readers admitted reading only a few verses in church on Sunday, or said that they had read it at some time in their lives.
