NATIONAL GUARD PLAN WASHINGTON, May 5. Plans for an Air National Guard and an Air Reserve with 217,000 officers and enlisted men designed to supplement the nation’s regular air striking power, with a network of reserve bases in every State, were disclosed by Lieu-tenant-General G. E. Stratemeyer at a meeting of the National Guard Association. '
An A . lr National Guard alone, with 3000 pilots. 3800 non-commissioned officers, and 40.000 enlisted men will be organised in 84 squadrons and in the men s spare time will man 79 air bases. The reserve will ultimately man 130 bases with 50.000 officers and 120.000 enlisted men. These secondary lines of air defence, which will be subject to call in a national emergency, will be integrated with the Air Defence Command which Lieutenant-General Stratemeyer commands.
