SWISS REPLY TO ALLIES
DEMAND TO RETURN GERMAN ASSETS
(Rec. 6.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 4. Switzerland has sent a Note to Britain, the United States, and France making a final offer of 50,000,000 dollars as a gift against an Allied demand that Switzerland hand over the equivalent of 200,000,000 dollars’ worth of looted gold which she obtained from Germany. In response to ap Allied demand for all German assets, Switzerland offers 50 per cent. Switzerland claims that she must determine the value of German assets and will not consider as German such assets as I. G. Farben interests, which are claimed to be Swiss holdings.
