CHAINS OF SHOPS
Sir,—NoUr the Government has a licensing commission and a commission to sit on gambling, I think it should look into these large concerns, with their oWn warehouses, and a chain of shops. This should, not be allowed, and the Government should take these shops for returned soldiers. A large concern operates shops throughout North Canterbury and in some country towns, it opens up these shops to sell ice-cream on picture nights. This is surety above- a joke, and it runs against the smaller man. The Government would be pleased to hear of this. —Yours, etc., GREED. April 29, 1946.
