PATRIOTIC FUND BOARD
Sir, —In replying to Canon Norris Mr Hayden says that there will be “no change” with a secretariat of the Internal Affairs Department administering the National Patriotic Fund. I maintain the change is more than obvious. Previously the Internal Affairs Department administered a fund providing goods and services for men overseas; now it is proposed that the department administer a fund (under the board) for “welfare’’ within New Zealand, Surely a difference. Mr Hayden says, “No authority and officialdom.” It is amazing a proposal was not put forward that this volun-tarily-raised fund be put under • the Social Security Department. It would be far more expeditious.—Yours, etc,. DISGUSTED. February 10, 1946.
